Hi Bert,
this soap opera appears to just run and run.
One question I would like to ask is about the meeting that supposedly took place in London in late January which was meant to involve investors in Palm View and Creola Sands. There was a posting on the "Boa Vista Cape Verde" fb page to say that the meeting had taken place and I believe the posting was by someone who said she had been to the meeting. However no one has posted anything about this meeting?? Surely if this meeting took place then someone would be able to answer the question regarding CMG and FM and any sort of deal between the two??

I see Mr Maguire has several cases listed against him in Ireland lately:
MAGUIRE, CIARAN 2009 5470 S AIRSCAPE LTD -V- FLASH DEVELOPMENTS LTD & ANOR View
MAGUIRE, CIARAN 2010 788 R HARRAHILL -V- MAGUIRE View
MAGUIRE, CIARAN 2010 8844 P BURTOFT & ORS -V- MAGUIRE & ANOR View
MAGUIRE, CIARAN 2010 1132 R HARRAHILL -V- MAGUIRE View
MAGUIRE T/A FLASH POWDER COATING, CIARAN 2010 2997 S ALLIED IRISH BANKS PLC -V- MAGUIRE T/A FLASH POWDER COATING View
he is being sued personally by AIB and several investors in Palm view.
Strange considering his "billionaire" status.
The wheels look like they are about to come off.

John, if you take a look at ciaranmaguireblog.com you will see that it has been updated with photos of the info meetings in the UK and with photos of Ciaran and a gang in remarkably clean looking hi-vis vests wandering around Creola Sands and hoisting the Palm view flags there.
And in case anyone is wondering Mr. R Harrahill is the Irish collector general i.e. the taxman. |

I live 9 miles from Manchester and wasn't invited to any meeting.
Considering Flash developments have 12,000 euro in reservation fees for 2 studio apartments the least Cieran could of done was sent my wife and i an invite.
I've asked for my money back but have heard nothing. |

| Steve - you should contact the Berkshire-based Portuguese/British law firm Neville de Rougemont - www.ndr.pt. From what I gather they are representing a large numbers of Palm View owners and are actively trying to find a solution to the current situation. |

Thanks for the reply guys.
Yes NDR were representing my wife and i but i was told not to pay any more moeny until NDR had concrete evidence that Palm View was going to be built.
NDR had the next stage payment but we got that refunded as NDR had that money in their escrow account.
I'm sure people have more money than us tied up in Palm View but my wife and i are not loaded and 12,000 euro was from hard earned savings.
I've not heard of anyone getting any money back so i'm not holding out much hope tbh. |

| Sounds pretty stressful for you Steve. What about this idea that Palm View owners transfer their interest across to the 75%-completed Creola Sands Resort? The rumours are that this will be rebranded as the Palm View Resort and finished to the same high spec as Ciaran Macguire had promised would be the case at Palm View. Is this a route that you or other PV investors are going down, or are you still holding out for recouping your investment from Ciaran Macguire? |

My wife and i were on the initial viewing trip which iirc was April 2008.
Due to the delays, frustrations and sometimes bad information my wife and i have had enough tbh and just want our reservation fee back which like i say came from hard earned savings.
We both feel totally stressed out by the whole sorry saga and not to be even invited to a meeting in Mcr which is only a 15 min drive from where we live really is the icing on the cake for sure!
I really do hope Ciaran will refund the reservation fee and prove to my wife and i that he is a genuine decent human being. |

Here is a rough translation from an article that has appeared in the Cape Verdean Newspaper "Expresso Das Ilhas".
| Quote: | The Irish group Ciaran Maguire launched on the morning of Thursday, 24, in Boa Vista, the first stone for the construction of an apartment complex with 238 luxury apartments, casino, thalassotherapy center and restaurants.
The initial investment Palm View Resort is 25 million and, according to prosecutors, all the apartments are already sold to Europeans, especially English and Irish. "The hotel, the restaurants will be complete later this year, and the other blocks will be complete next year," he told Radio in Cape Verde
Ciaran Maguire, chairman of the Group.
Palm View Resort is a luxurious beachfront resort, which initially will have three hundred employees. The project includes a seven-star boutique hotel, nine swimming pools, four restaurants, beach bars, bar, nightclub, tennis courts, soccer fields, outdoor theater, fully equipped gym and a health spa luxury and beauty.
The design of the Palm View Resort Ciaran Maguire Group will be born in Praia Cabral, the former complex Sabi sands, FM Group, which went bust just over two years.
In Cabral Beach Ciaran Maguire group wants to invest in the area surrounding Palm View Resort, rehabilitating the area and build a function room, a high school level and creating pedestrian promenade, with shops selling local handicrafts.
It is recalled that in 2008, Ciaran Maguire organized a tour of the island of Boa Vista, and has taken him about 160 people, some of which would become investors in the transaction. But due to delays and uncertainty in implementing the project, some eventually require replacement funding.
The idea had been thought initially to Praia and then was transferred to Boa Vista. |
No Comment.

This doesn't make any sense. Jak's post on Friday 25th March quotes a Ciaran Macguire press release to the Cape Verde newspaper Expresso das Ilhas which says "The initial investment Palm View Resort is 25 million and, according to prosecutors, all the apartments are already sold to Europeans, especially English and Irish."
If "all the apartments are already sold" then why, just 2 weeks later, would Ciaran Macguire be blowing tens of thousands of euros to launch a TV ad campaign to attract more investors to Palm View? |

Here's another one for Ciaran to put on his Palm View press clippings page!
http://www.herald.ie/opinion/michael-odoherty-while-im-on-a-roll-isnt-it-time-louise-went-on-a-date-with-me-2622376.html (Scroll down to 2nd. story)
| Quote: | HERE WE GO AGAIN...NOW TV3 WANTS US ALL TO INVEST IN HOLIDAY ISLAND SCHEME
OF all the reasons to watch TV3, none tops the entertainment value offered by a particular advertisement. And on a week which heralded the start of Ireland's latest property boom (no, really), it's with impeccable timing that TV3 is running ads for the Ciaran Maguire Group, and his 'once in a lifetime' investment opportunity in Cape Verde.
Pitch
Looking like a member of Il Divo, but sounding like a bloke flogging cigarettes at sub-wholesale prices, Ciaran makes his pitch. His Palm View Development is "quite simply, the best investment opportunity available today", and in a longer clip on his website, he claims that "now is the time to invest", and "eight out of 10 millionaires surveyed have made their money out of real estate".
It's like the property crash never happened, and the shameless vulgarity, the mind-numbing bollox of the Celtic Tiger years are back. 100pc finance? Yes. 'Guaranteed, no risk return'? Yes! Six, hell no, make that seven-star luxury with boutiques, casinos, butlers and private yachts? Yes, and yes again! Direct flights from Ireland courtesy of Ciaran Maguire Airlines, set to begin service at the end of 2011? Believe it or not.
Suspicious
But why should we doubt any of this? Well, you should always be suspicious of someone vain enough to refer to themselves as 'chairman and president', as Ciaran does, especially when his company doesn't seem to have that many employees.
You should also beware of phrases such as 'European Caribbean', which Ciaran claims Cape Verde is being hailed as. European? Cape Verde is actually off the west coast of Senegal, about 3,000 miles from Dublin, which makes it only 300 miles closer than New York.
Ciaran also claims that Cape Verde is 50 minutes south of the Canaries -- in fact, it's 1,200 miles away, so unless his airline fleet includes Stealth fighters, that's about two hours.
More importantly, Ciaran has a checkered history when it comes to Cape Verde. He announced back in 2008 that his development would be finished by 2010, and that the 370 units in the first phase were "nearly sold out".
Acknowledging the challenging environment at the time, he also claimed that his "company's economists" predicted an upturn in about 18 months -- ie, the middle of 2010. Er...
Blame
TV3 is not without blame, because when Ciaran first attempted to launch Cape Verde, Xpose ran a competition to promote it. The firm behind it at the time, Flash Developments, has since gone bust, with several people who lost deposits now taking Ciaran to the High Court. And the woman who won the competition had to settle for a cash alternative, supplied by TV3.
Yes, no one is in a position to turn away advertising, but even in the toughest times, you should know where to draw a line in the sand. And having dealt with Ciaran before, TV3 should maybe have realised that a beach in 'European Caribbean' Cape Verde was the perfect spot to do so. |
