The Boa Vista Social Club is in a fantastic setting on Estoril Beach, close to Sal Rei. An enormous amount of effort has been put in by the hosts Harry and Jose to make this club a place for providing a platform for local Cape Verdean artists to exhbit, perform and entertain. Is there any news on when this beach club will open?

Hi John,

We are still putting the finishing touches to the club, we've been delayed by lack of supplies, unforseen crisis etc - but hope to be opening for the summer season - ie by beginning of June. Will post a definite opening date as soon as it is established. Thanks for the compliments and interest!

Jose & Harry,

any news on the opening date for the Boa Vista Social Club?? Things seemed to be progressing well when I last visited in April with the local carpenter busy constructing all the furniture.

Hi John,

We are hoping to open within the next couple of months but as yet can't confirm an exact date - we hope to be open before the end of the summer season - but will let you know when we can be certain of an opening date.

Harry,

thank you for the reply, Laura is traveling to Boa Vista on Saturday. She will need to look elsewhere for a relaxing glass of wine whilst enjoying the evening sunset over the Ilheu de Sal Rei. No doubt she will call in to see you at some point during her visit.

How are you getting on? I missed you last time I was out . I think you were sorting out the kitchen equipment if I remember rightly. Think we are all looking forward to being able to buy a beer in your very impressive club and a fantastic location. Smile

I met with Jose at the Boa Vista Social club where he was very busy fitting out the kitchen. There were tables and chairs all set out ready for the first customers. Jose told me he was hoping to be ready to open in about one month (Cape Verde time!!).

The Boa Vista Social Club has now Opened for business. After many months (years?) of preparation Harry and Jose have at last opened the Boa Vista Social Club on Estoril Beach

The opening times are from 0900-1900 daily. The Boa Vista Social Club will be serving Cape Verdean food - a dish of the day alongside other snacks. There will also be a wide range of Grogues and Punches from different islands alongside an artesanal Grog from Santiago. Towards the high season there will be an offering of live local music.

It has truly been a long wait. Harry and Jose have the perfect location. I wish them every success in their "new" venture.

Just been checking some old photos and I came across this one of the Boa Vista Social Club taken in January 2009. It gives some idea of the great location.

Any more recent pictures since the BVSC opened would be appreciated.

I was eventually able to buy my first beer at the recently opened Boa Vista Social Club after nearly 2 years of waiting for the venue to open.

Jose, the owner, apologised for the wait. I assured him it was well worth it, The Boa Vista Social Club is in great location on Estoril Beach.

We think this will be a great place to hang out for our guests staying in our apartment.It was a favourite place to sit looking over to the Island and so calm even on windy days in March.Only a short walk from Vila Cabral as well.

We are going back to the Riu, Boa Vista at the end of November and have been trying to find out if the BVSC has opened yet? Anybody know? and also how far is it from the Riu ??
